  5. INTRODUCTION

  8. Actions 123 is a children's educational program running under Microsoft 
  9. Windows 3.0 and 3.1.  It is designed for children from 2 to 6.  This
  10. program teaches children about numbers, counting, addition, and
  11. subtraction using animated animals.
  12.  
  13. Actions 123 uses four scenarios and eight animals to create the animation.
  14. Each scenery is accompanied by a different music.  These scenarios and 
  15. animals alternate to create more variety in learning.
  16.  
  17. This demon version of Action 123 only offers the number display selection.
  18. The fully functional program with four different selections  - number
  19. display, counting, addition, and subtraction is available in the
  20. registered version of ACTION 123. Please register to receive the other
  21. three function selections.

  23. You are welcome to distribute or share Actions 123 demo program with
  24. your friends provided you do not alter the contents of this program.
  25. Only Actions 123 version 0.2 can be treated as public domain software.
  26. You may not distribute the registered version.

  31. The distribution version of Actions 123 contains the following files
  32.  
  33.         ACT123.EXE  -   main executable
  34.         ACT123.SPK  -   voice data file
  35.         DOVOICE.DLL -   voice driver
  36.         ACT123.TXT  -   this readme file

  38. All of the above files should be located in the same sub-directory for 
  39. the program to operate properly.

  41. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  42. -------------------

  44. Since Actions 123 operates under Microsoft Windows 3.0 environment,
  45. the following system configuration is recommended for Actions 123
  46. to run effectively.
  47.  
  48.     - PC/AT 286, 386, 486, or better computer operating
  49.       at speed greater than 10 MHz
  50.  
  51.     - Microsoft Windows 3.0 or later operating environment
  52.  
  53.     - Mouse pointing device
  54.  
  55.     - EGA, VGA, and XGA display system
  56.

  58. INSTALLATION
  59. ------------

  61. To install Actions 123, just copy the files stated in the FILE LIST 
  62. paragraph above into a sub-directory of your choice.  Then, you should
  63. activate the Microsoft Windows 3.0 environment.  Next, select the 
  64. "RUN" option under the "file" menu item of your Windows 3.0 Program 
  65. Manager.  This will result a dialog box appears on your screen.  Under
  66. the "Command Line" input, type in the directory path of Actions 123 
  67. and ACT123.EXE to execute the program.

  69. If you want to permanently install Actions 123 in your Program 
  70. Manager, please refer to Windows 3.0 User's manual for the procedures
  71. to adding icons within Program Manager.

  73. PROGRAM OPERATION
  74. -----------------

  76. Upon activating Actions 123,  it will undergo an initialization process 
  77. for a period of 15 seconds.  During this time, a message box will be 
  78. displayed on the screen, and the mouse will be disabled.  When the mouse 
  79. is re-enabled, you may click on the "OK" bottom to enter the main program.
  80.  
  81. After initialization, Actions 123 comes up as a blue toy with the first
  82. scenery displayed in the upper-left corner.  Below the screen are 10 number
  83. keys, and to the right of the screen are four selection keys.  The default
  84. selection is set to the first selection and all other selections are
  85. disabled.

  87. Press a number from 1 to 10 or use mouse to click on the number key to
  88. select a number you wish to display. For example, if you selected 3, 3
  89. rabbits (or another animal) will hop to the screen one after the other to
  90. their designated spots on the screen. You can display other numbers by
  91. repeating this procedure for the duration of the program.

  94. A short music tune will be playing while the animals are moving to their
  95. designated locations. The music can be turned off with the system menu.

  97. The animation will stop with the screen cleared when the main program
  98. window is either moved or resized.

  100. Double-click on the system menu located in the left corner to terminate 
  101. program.

  103. LICENSE AGREEMENT

  106. The distribution version of Actions 123 is a freeware.  It serves as 
  107. a demonstration for the registered version of Actions 123.  However, 
  108. it is copyrighted material, and it is protected by the copyright laws
  109. of the United States.  You may not alter, decompile, nor disassemble
  110. the program for any purpose.

  112. We encourage you to share this distribution version of  Actions 123 
  113. with your friends.

  115. REGISTRATION
  116. ------------

  118. Registration fee for Action 123 is $15.00.  Action 123 is part of a
  119. children's software package called "Toy Chest".  "Toy Chest" contains
  120. five programs:  Pictures ABC, Action 123, Kiddie Puzzles, My Coloring Book,
  121. and Little Piano.  If you are a registered user of any other "Toy Chest"
  122. programs, the registration fee for Action 123 is is $7.50.  Similarly,
  123. after registering for Action 123, registration fee for other "Toy Chest"
  124. programs are reduced by half.  To register for the entire "Toy Chest"
  125. package, please send in a check for $40.

  129. version 2.0 will be sent to you through C.O.D.  To order by mail,  please
